Diamond Rio 600 SE 64MB

Well i have decided to buy the Diamond Rio 600 SE 64MB for £175 after considering price, memory and reviews etc.

Can anyone give me feedback on this product.

Yes, but most MP3-CD players really suck. They skip like crazy (weird, though. They've got 100 second skip protection or more), don't have LCD screens and their sound stinks. They're better off as just CD players, but need to have the "next track" button played 150+ times to go to the next good song. (only good one I know about is the Pine D'music)

I'd rather recommend a Hard Drive player, like a Creative Nomad (only good one too).

I'm very pleased with my Rio 500. I imagine the 600 can only be better.

Actually, the Rio600 was a real flop of an MP3 player. The regular Rio600 had only 32MB of memory, tough controls, and bad software. It's competitor, the Nomad II, beat the hell out of it. I was rather disappointed, since Somicblue/S3/Diamond used to be the best MP3 player maker (The Rio 300 and 500 being their Prodigal children). The Rio800 doesn't do much better either. It just has 64MB and that's the only improvement.

Yeah, the Rio 500 really kicks, it's better then the rio 600, even if the 600 has more memory. Plus, if you want to add more memory to the 600 you have to get this backpack thing that is really big. http://store.sonicblue.com/dr/v2/ec_...840&CACHE_ID=0 (that will tell you more about the backpack.) I guess if the 600 is cheaper then the 500 go for it, but if not, get the 500.

I've had the Rio 500. Truly a great player. I would really like to know why SonicBlue ditched the Scroll Wheel and power button on their newest Rio's. That's the shining parts of the early Rio players.

I have the RIO 600 64MB version and I love it. I'm very active and a skipping CD player or a bulky HD player were simply out of the question. BTW, the newest version of the RIO 800 has 128 MB - thats almost 4 hours of playing time at 64 Kbs.

Isn't the 128mb a "SE" version? It's cost a whole lotta money too, right? Do you have to use those stupid backpacks for memory upgrade with 800's?
