Saving .MOV's
Anyone know how to save a .MOV? There's a trailer of a movie that I d/led and I can't figure out where .MOV file is so I can save it. It has to be somewhere on my computer because I know it didn't stream it. Any ideas?

This is a pretty basic suggestion but did you search for it using *.mov on your HD's?

NullPointerException
Even if you did stream it, it's probably burried somewhere under your IE cache folders. These can often be a pain to search through because they're all hidden system folders, but through a dos prompt with "dir /ad" then hunting through each directory, you can usually find any missing DLed file.

If there's a link to the file, right-click it and select "Save Target As."
If it's embedded in a page somewhere, view the source, find the filename, then create a simple HTML page like this: Click Me and save it to your hard drive. Then open it and do the "Save Target As" thing.

I save trailers all the time. I only know how to do it in Internet Explorer though.
First create a shortcut to your Temporary Internet Files on your desktop. To do this you right click the IE logo, go to properties, settings, view files. When the window pops up, right click the folder icon in the extreme upper left. Choose "Create Shortcut" and it will put the shortcut on your desktop. Now you have easy and quick access to it. When the trailer finishes downloading, click your shortcut, scroll to the very bottom and you'll see your file (it should be huge compared to all the surrounding files). Simply drag it's icon (at the left) on to your desktop or drag it to a folder. Now it's just like any other file. Hope this helps.

I'd try and reboot first then re-seat all your cards.

There is the theory of the moebius. A twist in the fabric of space where time becomes a loop.

It depends on what kind of .MOV file it is. If it's a progressive download, then you can download it by right-clicking and using "save target as" or some such. If it's embedded, the only easy way to save it is by upgrading to QT Pro. I think that's necessary (or was) at some point to save embedded content. Additionally, it will be stored in the temporary internet files as long as the page is open. That's the easy and free way.
If it's an MOV that's streaming via the QT (or Darwin) Streaming Server, then you are pretty much SOL for an easy solution. You'll have to save the stream with something like VLC.
Toss me the link to what you want to save and I'll tell you want it is, and how to do it, and if it's tricky I'll just do it myself and then host it for you so you can easily download it.
lol, I just noticed this thread is 7 years old. EPIC FAIL on my part.

Well, I was googling for "how to save mov files" and happened to land here and wanted to share some of my findings:
1. Quicktime saves the .mov file to a cached directory in:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer\QuickTime\downloads\
2. The extension to this cached file is ".qtch" and it cannot be played directly onto a media player (I've tried Quicktime & VLC).
3. So, it seems that the only solution to download and watch MOV trailers is to use Quicktime Pro until someone finds a solution and posts it here (maybe quickly and not take as long as 9 years, LOL)...........

Why burden your hard drive Let the Internet save it for you.
Movie trailers is not a fad that would disappear and One has to be afraid that he can not find them on the Inerent any more, it would be there as long as we are around.
