    Post Linux Software Sites

Just got Mandrake7.2 up on the new machine. Any of you guys know of a few nice linux software sites? Other than the obvious download.com type stuff of course.

Also, where can you download an AIM clone for linux? Licq is only half of my online list.

Everybuddy(it's a program) is probably already installed, its basically AIM, Yahoo Pager, and ICQ rolled into one. If you don't want to use that, do a search for gAIM. As far as sites, I can't remember all the ones I've used. They're everywhere! Try www.tucows.com and www.linuxmafia.org

Know tucows already, but linuxmafia looks pretty cool. Thx. Everybuddy is already installed but I have no clue as to what to do to run it. Noticed it a few minutes ago while updating files after I wrote this question

Just open a term window and type "everybuddy". That should start it up. You can also make a shortcut to it on the desktop, it's much more conveinent.

Sounds good to me. I've always wondered why are there so many programs installed with any particular distro that aren't automatically linked to. Or how come there isn't a list of what programs are included and what they do. Gets real boring knowing all the basic commands and having nothing to do with them.

I have to put in a plug for GAIM here, since the first versions were written by an old college friend of mine. It does AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, and MSN. You can get it straight from http://www.marko.net/gaim/

I'm pretty sure they have RPM's if you don't want to have to compile, but compiling a binary isn't that bad.

They have rpm's for licq. It's just it seems like licq needs too much junk installed that mandrake doesn't automatically do for my lazy butt. first needed qt. Downloaded qt, and it tells me I need some other lib.

If you are in need of any RPM's go over to rpmfind.net, another good site for linux applications and security information is linux.box.sk
