Is there a program out there that scans your entire computer (all your software and OS) and tells you if its up to date or needs updating and/or automatically updates everything that needs to be updated?

Yeah there is. Go to catchup.cnet.com and towards the bottom there is a link to that says Need to Download Catchup? Download it, install it, then from that catchup.cnet.com page do a Software scan and it'll tell you what you need to update. Hope this helps!
