Cisco is definately worth it. A+ is not as much so, but certifications all look impressive. A+ is more or less a helpdesk cert, whereas MSCE is a sysadmin cert and CCNA is a network engineer cert.

From a capitalistic veiwpoint. In most jobs I've seen, A+ certification is worth about $1.00 an hour more pay. Cisco certification is worth from $5 to $10 an hour more.

You have to take the test at a certified testing center. There is one about 45 minutes from me. I think they have them in most moderatly large cities.

The best money making certification is the CISCO cert. However, it is NOT easy. Don't be fooled into wasting thousands and thousands of dollars of your own money to end up in a class full of company sponsored "brain surgeons." The new MCSE 2000 certification is the same way only not as hard as cisco. remember, there is a reason there are not that many people with these certifications in the world. Microsoft made the new MCSE cert harder this year. These certification holders make big money for a reason!! if you're going to start out with your own money then go for the A+ ,true, it's not a real big deal, but it is a foot in the door.

I noticed a Cisco Class at my local Technical College called Cisco Academy. Looks like it might be sponsored in part by the Cisco Company itself. I think its has a total of 6-8 semesters if you wanted to go all the way. I am starting next Thursday on Semester 1. Ill try and post as to how it goes!
