Which C/C++ compiler is best
I'm just curious what everyone else thinks.
I'd say the most popular open source one is gcc but what does everyone else think?
Microsft? IBM? GCC? Turbo? Another?

Borland used to be one of the absolute best, at least in my opinion. Of course, they aren't quite what they used to be.
Microsoft is one of the most popular with their Visual C/C++ 6.0 compiler, and it is a fairly decent compiler. It has a few nicities to it.
I don't know which is the absolute best compiler, though.

Their Windows-based compiler (pre-Builder), I think it was 5.0 or so, was pretty good. Never used Builder, so I don't know about it.

I like Borland's C++Builder the best. However, Visual C++ is the most commonly used...

I personally use Power C for my C programming. It's produced by MixSoftware, and has a great built in debugger. It a very simplistic, but powerful C compiler. Not C++ though....but I'm sure Mix Software has a C++ variety.
