    Question searching - XML issues

    Hi,

wondering if anyone out there has any thoughts on this.

I need to do a search across several sites on an NT box, the sites include htm, asp and xml pages which ideally would all be included.

The sites are all based around the same structure (corporate site - different sites for different companies within the company as such) and all the sites use a frameset [left hand column, two rows and a main area - if it is important]. This is the first 'search' function i have done and I am trying to think it all out before beginning. It seems to me that the frameset and the xml both present problems though:

i understand that xml will get indexed but how do i make sure that it opens as a proper page and not just all the content of the xml file ? is that possible ?

any ideas, opinion or pointers gratefully received.

    thanks for your time.

How exactly are you going about this search? Are you creating a Verity Collection of some sort? If so, than only include the relevant documents into your Verity Collection. (ie...exclude Framesets, and raw .asp / .xml files)

it will be necessary to exclude some pages as they may get turned up in searches and would be of no use - menu pages etc. however - the pages created from xml (which are each wrapped in an asp page 'do' need to be included as they will hold published articles and job opportunities. i guess my question was how do i then make the results of a search (that has found data within an xml file) load in as a full page and not just raw, unformatted xml ?

    any thoughts welcome.

    thanks,
