    Talking controlling fans

i can now control the three fans with an illuminated rocker switch mounted in the front of my case. although, the switch doesn't illuminate oh well

anyone want to know how to wire a switch into a 4-pin Y-adapter? let me know.

It depends...are you wanting to build one or buy one? If you want to build one, www.fanbus.com is a good place to start. If all you want to do is be able to turn them on and off you just need SPST switches. You can hook them all up to one switch so they all go off at the same time or each can have its own switch and be turned off individually.

If you're looking to buy there are several places to get them. I know www.pcmods.com sells some and they also have a rheobus which is pretty cool.

How do you feel about pc mods? I'd like to have sound sensitive neon lamps and windows and what-not, but if their service is as bad as their prices....

I've never bought anything from them so I don't know much about them. I just ran across them looking for info about building a baybus. Their reseller rating is a 6.9 out of 7 but not many people have reviewed them.

I have 4 80mms and 2 92mms in my case and I needed something to control them. As far as wiring my system in a 4pin connector its quiet easy. Just use yellow as +12 AND black as ground. Wired all the fans in parrallel then put that load in series with a custom switch I built (A 7 position switch with 6 10w resistors and one through connect) for 7 choices of speed. Cost about 8$ from radioshack. Could go the easy way and go to ohmite.com and find the right rheostat for your needs (jsut find how much wattage all your fans need) and then use their parts engine and find a site that sells those parts, I've found onlinecomponents.com to be a good site. A 25w 25ohm rheostat goes for about 20$ though.
