OK, I'm convinced on Water Cooling. Where to begin?

OK, I am gonna take the plunge into water cooling. Where do I begin. Who do I order from. I've seen the SenFu kit selling, and price is not that big a deal, but I don't want crap. Anyway, I'm also looking for extremely quiet, thus one of the reasons I'm heading to this solution. Can you guys point me in the right direction, especillay towards pumps that are nice and quiet, but still do the job.

Are you looking for a setup with a resevoir, or do you want a closed circuit setup?

I'm not sure. I imagine that a reservoir system gives better performance, but a closed circuit system would probably be quieter. I am definitely open to ideas!!

Closed circuit aren't necessarily quieter, but they tend to take less room because you don't have a resevoir. The downside is they can be a pain to get filled and blead the air from the system.

If you get a resevoir system you can get internal or external pump systems. Internal pump systems use less space, but having the pupm in the resevoir can increase temps 1-2C.

Well, from the way you make it souund, a reservoir based external pump sounds like the best idea, but how loud is it? If it isn't too loud, then this sounds like the idea for me

Depends on the unit and the output of the pump.

i have a reservoir and external pump. It's absolutely silent. The only thing i hear is my video card fan.

Before I fell asleep last night I was thinking about what I would do if I had it to do over. Here's my thought:

I was looking at my 45 gallon fishtank. It has a Fluval 3-part filter that holds about a gallon of water (it is for fishtanks up to 150 gallons. yes, this is overkill). It's really quiet, and would make an AWESOME pump/reservoir combination. You can get them for ~$150 @ Petsmart or Petco.

Find a copper radiator from a refrigerator or old car or something... very important. Then get a DangerDen Maze waterblock. I'd do some reading at the local sites before dropping $, I think you can build your own for the same money that is 10x better.

I figure this system would cost ~$200 total, but it would be MUCH better than my Blizzard.

What can I use for the reservoir? I was thinking that I would like some sort of see through case. Maybe plexi-glass or something. It's be nice to take a quick glance and see what the liquid level is, make sure there are no leaks, etc. Plus, then look cool. Does anyone sell such objects?

Also, what do you think for waterblock, I've got it narrowed down to 2 of them
1) Dangerden MAZE1 for socket370
2) Overclock-watercool SILVERBASED Copper waterblock for socket 370

For my pump I used an Eheim 1046. this pump is absolutely silent. Zero noise, i'm not kidding. http://www.eheim.com/

For my waterblock i used the Swiftech MCW462 http://www.swiftnets.com/

For my reservoir i used a clear plastic juice container i bought from a Canadian Tire store. (Is there Canadian Tire in the states?... oh well, you juice containers anywhere)

This fan is very quiet too.

I'm still getting part for my WC setup, got a PC case, going to make my own block. Got to find a radiator, a visit to my local car scrap dealer in order here I think, to get a heater matrix.

I have one question though, what flow rate to go for?

I have heard a lot of people at WC sites talk of using at least 300GHP - 400GPH for the ideal setup. But I do hear of people using about 200, though I hear that less than this can cause problems.

I was going to aim for about 300 with an Eheim pump or similar. Any opinions?

ynd69 do you find 180 enough, what is your setup (CPU)? and temps?
