    Looks sweet, but who sees the HDD anyway?


    Anyway, I won't try that for a LOOONG time, as I still love the warranty on my HDD

    Well, the reading head is 2-millions of a inch away from the platter, and a single particle of dust is significantly larger than that. If that gets squished in the middle it will most certainly scratch the platter. I wouldn't try that mod unless it was an old, and therefore probably crappy HDD.

    i really wouldnt want to do this mod ether but. when the hard drive spins up doesnt the head float on a cushion of air. if so, wouldnt it be kinda hard for a particle of dust to get stuck between the head and the platter.
