    Wink !!!(!--win2000 and gaming?--)!!!

    eh, i just formatted my notebook, because i was fed up with winME. i installed a copy of win2000, and was wondering if i still could play good old quake 2(engine based) games. do i need to install some kinda directx or something, or do i need service pack stuff?

    Hmmm, you probably could run it in Software mode... this is on a notebook? what speed and how much ram?

    You could install Win98 in addition to Win2k.
    You wouldn't experience these problems.

    Quake 2 will run just fine on Windows 2000 pro. See the 2 websites in my signature for more tips and compatability issues.

    Just as a rule of thumb, i never upgrade my operating system unless i have to in order to support new hardware or get rid of bugs. Im still using Win98 SE, and I can run any game I want to.
