    Angry Unreal Tournament - How do I stop Downloads

    We have a real problem here. My brother plays UT all of the time, and downloads maps and Mods all of the time. Problem is, whenever we start to try to play multiplayer (he starts the server game)I am stuck with downloading hours of Mods he has installed, even though we are not playing or using that mod. Also, the other day I tried playing after finally installing all the Mods he had, and an error message showed up that said something like "Unreal Fortress Game Mis-Match", and kicked me off his server. ***??

    Anyway, does anyone know how to stop these automatic downloads?? I can understand if we are playing that map or Mod, but ***, is it necessary for me to duplicate his UnReal Tournament downloads to play against him?? No one can play against him because they are faced with hours of download time( one chap waited 10 hours, and the downloading was still was not done - we are all on cable connections))!!

    Help, if possible!!!!!

    hit f10 that will stop the download...

    you just wont beable to play on that server till you get those files though.

    Thanks LordVampyre, deserved that one, I quess. What I should of said was how do I stop those downloads without disconnecting from the server (no F10 please). We are not playing those maps or using those mods, so why do I have to download them before I play???

    Here is how to fix it.

    Edit Unrealtournament.ini. Find engine.engine.... there should be something like this.

    Take out all server packages other than those and you won't have to download all the other mods your brother has installed.

    Also, it seems that you two are playing on a LAN. When doing so, set the gamespeed to LAN rather than dialup... the DLs will go a lot faster, should you not choose to disable them.. and gameplay will be a lot faster.

    i got the new bouns pack a 2 days ago,
    the new characters look so cool man !!!!
    by the way here is my question,when i play
    UT on some server, sometime i dont have
    some of those new or mod map,so it will
    automatic download the map from the server.
    after I played it,i want to play those new
    map again. but i cant find it in the map
    list or anywhere in my hard drive, how
    can i find those map ?

    snwbderguy...all that stuff is being stored in the cache, so open up the cache folder, in the Unreal Tournament folder. You'll find all the file names are really weird, but there's a cache.ini file that keeps track of everything. Open that file up in a text editor, and you'll see the "code" filename and the matching "normal" name. Just rename the specific cache file with the real name, and toss it in the appropriate folder (maps, textures, etc.).
