Diablo 2 Direct Draw issue...
I just got Diablo 2 last night, and when I try to run it under Win2K, 95% of the time it won't initialize and it gives me an error saying that it had an error initializing Direct Draw. Also, when I run the video check it says that I can't run Diablo 2 on my system. My specs are as follows...
AMD Athlon 1.2
EPoX 8K7A+
Elsa Gladiac GeForce2 MX
I was wondering if you guys thought whether or not the newest updates would help me, I kinda need to get it working tonight though, as I'm going to a LAN in 2 hours and we're probably gonna play it a little bit. One other note, I can get it working fine in Win98SE...I might just run it in that tonight...but I don't have my NIC working correctly on that OS. But I could probably get it going though... Let me know what you all think. Thanks in advance!

Update DirectX and your display drivers would be my first bet.
You can get the latest nVidia drivers at nVidia :
http://www.nvidia.com
and the latest DirectX at :
http://www.microsoft.com/directx
Hopefully that solves your D2 issues.

Well, I already had the latest Nvidia drivers in 2k, but I was running ancient drivers in '98SE. Thus far, the only thing that'll work is '98SE...I installed the new patches to no avail. So I think I'm going to reinstall DX and see if that does anything.

well, just put DX 8.1 on and it didn't make any difference, so I'm at a loss here.
