TeamFortress 2
Rumours are flying now that TF2, Valve Softwares next hit multiplayer-only game, is going to use the Havok Engine (www.havok.com). After reading the Havok site for awhile, I'm not quite sure if the engine is just a 3dsmax plug-in to create realistic cut-scenes, or can actual be used in some way as an *actual* game engine... ideas?

Looks like these guys just sell "physics and dynamics technology" so I guess that's what Valve will be adding to TF2. Interesting to see Blizzard also amongst the list of developers. Kinda adds a little more substance to the rumour that their next game is going tob e an FPS. now that WOULD be interesting to see.

Will it EVER come out? I mean this has been on the table for a LONG time now and I need a successor to TFC very badly (Tribes 2?)..

Yeah, I am sure once it is released it will be a great game. I remember Half-life being delayed a couple of times. Just go buy Tribes 2 when it comes out and that will hold you for a year or two.

I don't know.. I'm starting to lump TF2 into the same category with Daikatana. Back in early 99, when TFC was released for Half-Life, I was eagerly awaiting TF2 (I had previously played Quake TF); but back then it was supposed to be out in Fall 99... then Winter 99... then early 2000... now we're about to enter Q4 2000 and it seems no more likely to be released soon now than when it was announced.
By the time the much-anticipated Daikatana finally got released, no one cared anymore. And that, I'm afraid, is what is starting to happen with TF2.

Thats what im afraid of with TF2. That it will take so long it will be outdated compared to other games like Tribes 2. I remember hearing about it back when it was supposed to be an add-on for Half-life. From the sounds of it the game isnt close to completion so maybe Xmas of 2001???
