    Post PS II vs PC-Games

If a game was released on PS II and PC, which will run it better? For arguments sake lets say the average PC has 1 GHz CPU, 256 MB RAM, GeForce II MX.

    ------------------
    Athlon T-Bird 900 Mhz
    MSI K7T-Pro 2A
    128 MB PC-133
    64 MB PC-100 (2x)
    20 GB Maxtor ATA 33/7200
    6.4 GB Maxtor ATA 33/5400
Hercules MX II - 32 MB
    HP CD-RW
    Pioneer DVD (105-S)
    Monster Sound MX300
    19" KDS Flat Monitor
    Athlon T-Bird 900 Mhz
    MSI K7T-Pro 2A
    512 MB Crucial CL2
    60 GB IBM Deskstar
Hercules MX II - 32 MB
    HP CD-RW
    Pioneer DVD (105-S)
    Monster Sound MX300
    19" KDS Flat Monitor

Ps2 would have a shitload more polygons than the Pc version, but the PC would have alot higher texture resolution due to more ram.

It really depends in fact, games like MGS2 would be near impossible on a PC, the particles alone in that game would bring a geforce2 on its knees.

Same with dreamcast, games from sega have so much overdraw that even a geforce2 ultra would go down in flames (low fps)

Each platforms have their advantage basicly..

Hello you can't compare at all the pc to ps2. The ps2 runs a MUCH lower resolution than most computer games. They don't need a megapixel fillrate to keep up with unreal tournament. MGS 2 would run just as fast if not faster on a pc if you played on the blocky resolution you see on the tv.

koby, first, no pc cards today could support the number of vertex, particles and polygons that ps2 can output.

    THATS A FACT.

Second, resolution doesnt play any major role into how much polygons you can have on screen, its mostly a question of memory for the frame buffer.

Peoples that say "pc could do the same ammount of polygons at lower res" should maybe just dont bother understanding hardware.

Only advantage PC have over ps2 is textures resolution due to higher ammount of memory. (but its a little difference)

Who cares? I've got a PC, PS2, and a DC, so I'm set to play just about any game that comes out these days. That'll change when the new consoles come out, but oh well.

There's no use arguing over which is better IMO, just play the games you like however you can.

The best of both worlds. I don't have a DC, but may when they get a bit cheaper over here.

cosk, about the only games you can look forward on ps2 that is worth the money is gt3, mgs2, devil may cry and FFX. Most of them will be out this fall.
