Red Emperor Dune 3000++ Sun
well.. after reading the review of the dune 3000 erm Emperor game, i cant help but feel like its as bad as dune 2000. graphics aside, the review made it feel like a graphically beefed up dune 2000... there didnt seem to be anything special in it...
ohwell...
after buying TS and being disappointed, i dont think i'll bother with emperor.

I think that it's a little more than Dune 2000.
But, like I said, it does draw heavily from previous Westwood games, so you are going to see similarities.
But with the new graphics engine, the new units, and the 4 Subhouses you can recruit from (something which I wish I would have emphasized a little more in the review) I think the game is worthy of a purchase.

Hey Klashe, do think this game could catch on around the house? Things have been absolutely dead since you left.

It is no where near as bad as Dune 2000. I didn't like Emperor as much as Klashe did, I found to be the same old RTS game from Westwood. Its ok, but it adds nothing new. Which I feel is not a good thing. Also on my machine, 550 slot athlon and a radeon the load times were hella long, I am talking about 3-6 minutes. Well I did have the graphics detail set to high, tho. BTW my frame rate was great. Also not many people play online, which sucks.

I enjoyed it alot...and i felt it was more of a throw back to the original dune II than dune 2000 was. And I do like not having to screw with my harverster all the time although some micro managment is needed.

I enjoyed Dune2 much more than Dune2000 and what I've played of Emperor. I don't know if it's because I don't have the manuals (my brother has 'em), but I have absolutely no idea what's going on in the game. I mean, the first Harkonnen mission was easy, then the 2nd mission has 2 enemies constantly rushing me with infantry/tanks. I prefer more laid-back games. I probably would have liked the game more if they'd kept the "Mentat" function from Dune2.
