direct x9?

when will the next official version of directx be relesed? I unwittingly installed 8.1(beta) which expired at the end of august. I'm now using the latest beta build of 8.1 but this will no doubt expire at end of september.

lol, i would not install beta DXs because they expire and it's a pain to download an uninstaller and then reinstall... i had that direct draw has expired problem too

8.1 doesnt really improve anything, just adds functions for the new radeon cards which arent out yet. dx9 should be out around the end of next spring or early summer. (unless nvidia pulls outsomething before the r300)
the dx9 spec hasnt been finalized yet, but that time frame is when the r300 is supposed to come out which is probably around when dx9 will be coming out to allow you to use r300 extensions.

none of this is official(except that dx9 hasnt been finalized and r300's roadmap is set for release around late Q1 or early Q2) so this is just my theory
