SMP support in Q3 / RTCF ?
Has anyone successfully activated SMP support in either Q3 or RTCF ?
I have a dual P3-1GHz system running Win2k Professional, and both games lock up within a few seconds once I enable r_smp 1 & vid_restart it.
I was just curious if anyone's actually had sucess with this.

My motherboard is an Abit VP6. Runs wonderfully. I've heard that the SMP abilities built into the Q3 engine were pretty buggy...which is most likely why I'm having these problems. But I was just curious if anyone here has had success with it, or if perhaps someone might have some suggestions for me.

grizz, i recommend the forums over at www.2cpu.com These guys are SMP freaks and some gamers, so i know they've all tried it at least once. Alot of them run the VP6, so they can probably help out

Motoman said he got Q3 working under SMP, you might want to ask him.

SMP? Do you mean MPS (Multi-Processor Support)?

This may be a silly question, but are you sure multiprocessor support is properly set up on your system?
If you did a clean install with both processors in place you are usually ok, but if you add the second processor afterwards you need to do some reconfiguring before the OS can use it.

You have to flip the r_smp switch from zero to one to enable SMP in Q3 games. You can do it from the ~ menu, or in the .ini file, either way.
Q3 itself I didn't have any problems with in SMP mode - but when I tried it in STV: Elite Force, it got a little unstable. Of course, now that I think about it, STV wasn't exactly perfectly stable anyway...
