Sony's releases losing steam?

Now not to start a flame war however with the release of FFX tomorrow has Sony finally ended its powerful push of the ps2 for now. I remember when the ps2 came out last year there was hype for mgs2 and ffx. To be honest those games along with the devil may cry has helped keep the xbox and cube down and the ps2 on top. Now there really arent any games that I can think of that come to mind that have all the hype as these games have had. Unless I am wrong I think this will open the system wars up wide open in the new year. Actually though I dont know of any xbox game that has a lot of hype either. Of course with the gamecube you will always have zelda and even metroid now. So guys am I missing out on some games I should know about.

Gran Turismo concept is coming out soon... check ou the graphics...



theres also tekken 4, virtua fighter 4, and onimusha 2, maximo, tenchu 3... o and so much more... but yeah, i think in about a year or two the sony will lose steam and when the gamecube games start rolling out (metroid for example)... gc will come out on top.... but i still think sony has a robust life ahead for a good while... esp with PS3 on the way

Yeah I left out gt3 but i still do not think that tekken or some of the other games have the hype of the games that are currenlty coming out even if they may be better. As far as tekken goes I wonder how it will stack up agains soul calibar 2. I have always wanted tekken tag but just never got around to buy it. I will admit though the xbox is impressive with its graphics and sound so when the games start coming out for all 3 especially a year or two down the road I think Sony will lose a lot more of its steam as the ps2 will start showing its age early. Looks like the 5 year console life is going away--I hope that it doesnt become like videocards hehe a new one every 6 months or so.

the xbox sales are rising, especially now close to christmas, the ps2 is doing no better then it was twio months ago.

actually if u understand the whole RISC vs CISC debate you will understand why consoles last so long...

CISC cpus tend to scale in accordance with harware... to get better graphics and performance, usually an upgrade is neccesary... since the xbox uses a x86 32bit CISC celeron chip... the current graphics are as good as their gonna get without upgrades...

RISC cpus on the otherhand scale more toward software and are alot more efficient. That why the apple G4 RISC chips are so much more powerful than any competing intel or amd CISC chip....

the ps2 uses a 128bit RISC chip and the GC uses a 64bit RISC chip.. both will scale toward software... so as newer software comes out with enhanced api's and directions... the performance and graphics of the games will go up... that is why consoles (traditional consoel all used RISC chips) can last up to 3-5 years with no upgrade and u can clearly see how the games have "evolved" over each generation....

the xbox games will continue to look like they do now.. unless micrsoft plans on releasing "upgrades" for its xbox

Yeah I know I was just being sarcastic that is why I threw in the hehe however I do think that console lives will be shorter now. Probably more like 3-4 years instead of the 5+ years. Consoles not only have to compete with each other but they also compete indirectly with computers so as good as the risc processor is and the software behind it, it still cannot compete with a computer a year or so newer. Actually I dont think any of the new consoles necessarily have better graphics than the new pc games like return to castle wolfenstein. I think we are in for a revolution in the video game department as the current systems are pushing 3d and graphics to the limit. Just as 3d graphics changed games a bit ago I think there will be new things perhaps online play or interactivity.

Xenosaga is not out until Q4 2k2 in japan cant imagine how long it will take to translate those 2 DVDs for the north american launch.. probably not until 2k3.

Your not kidding about the Xbox. My brother'n'law and I looked every where yesterday so he could by an Xbox and every where we went they were sold out, but every place had ton's of PS2's. I also notice the Gamecube is doing real well. We could not find any of those either.

im getting an ps2 with my extra christmas money. i cant wait to get mgs2, thps3, ffx, gta3,gran turismo3, nba2k2, madden, ssx...

i think the gamecube is going to quiet down just like the n64 did, and i just dont see the xbox going far. the games just arent appealing to me.

Actually the store I work at we have had Xbox's in for the last 3 days, but no GCs of course this has to do with us getting a ton of Xbox's and only about 4 GC's a week. If your looking for a Xbox look for a store owned by Gamestop (babages, softwear etc., funco)
