ECC vs Non-ECC Ram

I'm building an audio editing machine (some vid editing also) and I'm wondering if the error correcting would benifit me or if I should just stick with the regular Non-ECC Ram.

I'm going to be using a 1.8Ghz northwood and RDRam. No amd vs intel comments please, I've already made the decision. Just need to know if ECC is worth the small speed hit/worth the extra $52 it would cost (I'm putting in 1gig of ram).

I would personally just go w/ non-ECC since it is a little faster. But with the work you plan on doing, ECC might sound like a good way to go too. I would go w/ non-ECC though.

No, you can safely ditch the ECC RAM. No workstation needs the error correcting capabilities of ECC RAM, like a server does. I would consider it a waste of money for your system. Ditch it and get more regular RAM.

It depends on how important the work is that you are going to do. How much time and effort will be wasted if you crash with a memory error? I use ECC RDRAM exclusively even though memory errors are fairly rare. You won't notice the speed difference.
