This is not the "Do my Homework For Me" Forum
Just to let the newbies (or oldies that don't visit us ) know that this forum is not here to get us to do your homework for you.
If you are having problems getting down the concept of something (structs, Object Oriented code, threads, etc.), we'll do our darnest to help. Don't give us your homework assignment and expect, or even hope, that we'll do it for you. You'll be missing out on a great learning opportunity and that's cheating. Somehow, I don't think y'all want to get caught cheating on a public forum...
If we are feeling generous, we might actually help debug some of your prewritten code, but that's unlikely. (It's a big enough pain to debug our own code! )
So, if you need help with a program, that we'll help with. You want us to DO your program, no luck...
Just FYI.

If you are going to program professionally that can really hinder you. In the real world you can't always cut and paste your way through projects. I would advise your friend to start learning for himself.

Uni lectures kinda suck and not everything is included in the notes, so some people would ask for help in the forums for things they do not know. That is a type of learning, and true, there are people that do abuse this, but isn't it better to believe in the good rather the bad in people? At least you are always sincere to yourself and the people who really need help

I am far from a guru, but I never asked people to do my homework for me. For one, it is cheating and against every school policy that I've ever heard about, and two, it ruins a perfect learning opportunity.
Besides, look at the title of this forum. It's Programming, Coding, and Scripting not "Post your homework and we'll do it for you".

Yeah I remember working in the computer lab at college and there were always those few CS students who wanted you to do their projects for them.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind helping someone who genuinely wants to learn, but lazy people really bother me.
-
this is funny..because the exact same thing goes on at http://www.rentacoder.com with a twist
if your not familiar with that site...it lets people post corporate and non-corporate projects that people can bid on to develop. Seemed like a great idea until I started seeing some projects that resembled some of my early cs class programs. I looked at a few overviews and found one that said...
"For 10 points, print a linked list recursively using..."
10 points?! WOW a whole 10 points! I wonder if McDonalds accepts that!
I found a few more too, some that even included the class's original .pdf file overfiew with the class name included!
neways... as you can see this crap goes on elsewhere too. college students need to learn, and as Galen has stated, the real cheating happens when you miss out on the learning experience. as most seasoned programmers know, coding can be quite an experience and cheating only cheats yourself =\

It's pretty cool when a Red Dragon tells you that he doesn't want to do your homework for you COOL!!! I'm just happy to know that there is a place like these forums that has all these great minds that you can ask help from, from time to time.
