    Uggh, the New Morpheus

Ever since Morpheus went down, I've had to resort to using WinMx to get everything. Granted it's not a terrible program and I can find most songs, but it's not as fast, reliable, or simple as Morpheus was. Half the time I have to attempt 5 or 6 downloads before I find one that works, and bandwith is limited since I can only download off of one user at a time.

So I saw that the new Preview Edition of Morpheus was out and I downloaded. Ugghhh, it was quite terrible. For one the interface was just...well weird. Like it looked like it was thrown together in mere hours (which it probably had to be). And it didn't work to well either, I thought that it was supposed to not only connect to the Gnutella networks, but also to the old MusicCity network. But all I got was Gnutella connections and half the time they weren't sharing anywhere near the files that MusicCity's network did. I was struggling to find files and when I did they were always limited to just one host who was usually full and unable to download from. It was terrible and I uninstalled it within minutes.

On another note, I downloaded Grokster because I didn't think it installed spyware as much as Kazaa does as long as you don't install Gator and Offer Companion. So I used that for a while and really didn't have problems with it, but I don't know what I'm going to do for a while. I'm hoping that Morpheus is going to come around to be better than it is now, otherwise I'm going to have to keep using WinMX for a while until something better comes along.

    Just my 2 cents guys...

Best file sharing program out there for mp3's is Audiogalaxy. It's lightning fast. On my college network it takes about 10 minutes to download a typical 5 to 6MB file using Kazaa or Morpheus. Audiogalaxy literally takes about 3 1/2 seconds. Of course, you can only share mp3's, no other file types.

I switched over to Kazaa when Morpheus was having problems. I like it much better than Morpheus.

    Thumbs down

I don't think we need two of the same topics.

Oh who cares if theres another topic of this but anyhow i think morpheus is dieing. Ive been reading a lot of things that are suggesting it cause kazzaa is being a pain in there butts or something but it seems like kazzaa might be the only one standing at the end. I liked morpheus cause im on 56k but im getting cable soon anyhow and ill just go to kazzaa and remove the spyware from it.

I would like AudioGalaxy if all I shared was music and I didn't mind spyware, but unfortunately I have concerns with both of those. If Morpheus is going to continue like that, I won't be using it anytime soon. WinMX is working OK for now but surely someone is going to step up to the plate to make a program that would beat the pants off of Morpheus. Just look at how much better things have gotten since we lost Napster, file sharing is even more popular and you can find more things since the government shut down Napster.

with morpheus you can manually plug in IPs if you want. if i had the IPs to musiccity's servers and Kazaas servers (or anyone else's that had a few TB's), would i be able to force morpheus preview to connect to them?

do you think future releases of this new morpheus will be able to connect to more than just gnutella?

If you want the IP to musiccity.com just go into a command prompt and Ping Musiccity.com... I'll do it for you.

    WinMX all the way here...

If you say that you cant get connected to download fast on WinMX, then you havent mastered the ways of downloading from WinMX lol, WinMX whoops Morpheus and any other sharing program out there that supports all file sharing. Why do you think people have files with (1), (2), (3), (4), or (5) at the end? Its becuz they highlight a crap load of the same files and just hit download. This is how I download off of WinMX, then again you can most likely only do this if you have cable or DSL. Once the downloads start up just start deleting the ones that are going slow and leave the fastest ones. Sometimes when im bored I leave two or more downloading and make bets on which one will finish first lol... I had over 59 different DivX movies (before losing them all) and got them all from WinMX you just have to know how to trade too. And you can manually add in IPs too. Prety soon WinMX 3.0 will hopefully come out and have that multi-download crap like Morpheus too. I would agree on Audiogalaxy being the best for Mp3s only. But other then that I grew up with WinMX lol... Got WinMX? And WinMX interface is easy after sitting for a few minutes trying to figure it out and messing with it. And is even better if you have a high resolution and the Multi-Window setting activated. It allows me to have everything infront of me so i dont have to go switching threw tabs. My settings are 1400 by 1050.

Morpheus PE is a bit annoying when you try to work around it. I find that it is better than the Adware filled Kazaa.

I didn't mind winmx, but it doesn't have anywhere near the amount of stuff.
