Office XP Corporate Edition.
Whenever I try to install the service pack to my Office XP Service Pack it says the expected version was not found on your computer. I have been told that the older versions of the Corporate Edition wont let you install this. Is there anyway around this? There is a lot of fixes that I need but can't install.

I dont know the answer to your question but just a heads up, there is a general feeling of disdain for those who mention "corporate edition" at Sharkys because it is considered warez which is a no-no here...

Its a legit copy. Its from my work. The IT guys at work have no idea either.

Is it installed on your work system or home system?

Its on my company laptop. If this is going to be a big deal I can just go ask elsewhere.

As mentioned before, most of the time someone mentions a Corp edition of something it's a warez'd copy.
Have you tried reinstalling Office? What version is it?

I have tried reinstalling it. In fact no one at work can get it installed.

Can't get it installed? How are they going about installing it?

We just downloaded the SP1 off of Microsofts website and it ran the .exe file. It gets about 2 steps into and says the version expected could not be found on your system. The date on the WORD.EXE file is February 6, 2001. I have been told that there are 2 versions of the Corporate Version. The one with the older date will not let it install updates. I guess it was part of the Corporate Preview version. I wonder if this is what we have?

It's possible. If your company purchased the software it should be a full version though. Did you try reinstalling the entire Office XP package?

Crash Test Dummy
The date on my WINWORD.EXE file is 10/18/2001, and I'm running Office XP Professional (Volume License or "Corporate" Edition). If you open up MS Word, click on "Help" and then "About Microsoft Word", what version number does it show? For reference, mine reads as follows:
Microsoft® Word 2002 (10.3416.3501) SP-1
Since I'm running SP-1, that might explain the difference in date. But even on my installation CD, the dates on the Office setup files are 3/7/2001 or later, so I've got a hunch you might be running a preview edition.

Skydog, my MSDN version of Word has the exact same string.

The only reason he asked was because some users (including me) do not like warez/piracy. He also probably didn't want any of the warez-haters getting to you before he did
