    Need some good books

I recently set up internship at a small network consulting place that does most of their work at small companies (10-100 comps) and would like some good reading before I start this summer. I don't know much more than small peer-to-peer stuff, so some help would really be appreciated.

You did not say what computing environment you'll be working in - probably Win2k Server or Win2k Small Business Server. You'll need a good knowledge of Wink administration so I'll recommend Windows 2000 Server Administrator's Companion published by Microsoft Press. It is more of a reference book than a teaching book. As such it is handy to keep on hand.

As an intern, you may actually get into some DNS work with one of the larger clients. For that get a book such as DNS and Bind, 3rd edition by Paul Albitz and Cricket Liu or a Microsoft specific DNA and Bind publication.

Many of the titles published are repetitive so a quick scan to pick up a tip or two is all you'll get for your money. Why don't you browse your school library or public library for a few titles.

I belive that all work will be done in a Win2K enviornment, though some clients may have XP pro.

If you want to brush up on basic or advanced networking just go to Ciscos site and read their white papers. They are a very good source of info for free............. Tagging IGMP CGMP DVMRP OSPF RIP ver 1 and 2 all good reading.
