    Oh No! My XP Relcoked!

The other day I took a second to check my little serial LCD panel on my case for E-Mail and noticed my processor speed was down from about 1650mhz to stock speed. I went into my bios and saw that mult changes didn't take effect anymore! I never pictured myself re-unlocking my XP!

Did you use enough conductive laquer the first time? You may have just put a little bit on there and it wasn't enough.

That sux. Here's a tip, the next time you unlock your AXP place a layer of scotch tape over the pins to make sure it stays unlocked. Good luck.

Wouldn't that tape melt and cause problems? I don't know so I might be wrong. That's why I'm asking but that doesn't sound appealing to me.

Nah, the core emits the majority of the heat while the organic packaging along with the pins stay relatively cool to keep the tape from melting away.

When I unlocked the old 1Ghz T-Birds, I always applied some clear nail polish over the bridges after they were thoroughly dry....no need to unlock again

When I did it everything went perfectly. The job looked almost perfect, and checked out on my Ohmmeter and continuity tester. I havent moved the computer at all since I built it except for tipping it over for upgrades sometimes. I have used the glue thousands of times on model work, and the conductive laquer a few hundred. Maybe the glue expanded from heat and broke the connection.
