    GeForce2 MX/WinXP Pro issue

    Alright, here goes...

I recently made the switch to WinXP Pro...as my 2K partition decided to take a dump on me after installing my new CD-RW.

That was about 3 weeks ago...for the past 1 1/2 week, XP has been crashing on me, with the GF2MX to blame (or thus saith XP). There are a few different versions of the problem...

    • Display gets garbled when mouse moved over graphics, etc, and then will eventually become completely unreadable
    • Computer will randomly freeze (usually when viewing graphics)
    • Computer will reboot (same as above)

Here are my complete system specs...

    • AMD T-Bird 1.4 GHz
    • EPoX 8K7A+
    • 256 MB PC2100 Crucial
    • Elsa Gladiac GeForce2 MX
    • SB Live! Value
    • Pioneer 106s DVD-ROM
    • TDK 32/10/40 CD-RW
    • 3-Com 3C905B NIC
    • MS IntelliMouse Explorer (USB)
    • MS Natural Keyboard Pro (USB)

So far I've reinstalled the driver that XP gets; installed the nVidia reference driver, and installed the Elsa driver. All to no avail...same things keep happening. I'm really not sure what to do, short of a complete reinstall...which is something that I'm considering doing at this point. Any suggestions/help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks so much...

    Display settings...1024x768, 32bit, 72Hz.

edit - problem does not occur in '98SE

Apparently this part of my signature was deemed offensive by the administration at some point and removed.

try using dentonator destroyer to completely remove the drivers.

It could also be a virus.
