arg!!! DVD is in PIO mode!!!

and it wont get out of it! i cant seem to get it in dma mode AT ALL. i just noticed it awhile ago because a couple dvd's where kinda jittery. i have it on the same ribbon as my hd and its set at ultra dma 5. and then on the other cable my cdrw is on dma as well but no matter what my friggin dvd will not go to dma mode and its pissing me off. transfering files and installing things are really slow.

If your o/c is from the FSB, that may very well be why. Some BIOS force ATAPI drives down to a slower mode when the FSB goes up. Try taking the FSB down to stock and see what happens.

If you're running Windows XP, all I have to say is...why?

Try uninstalling the Via 4-in-1's if you have them installed.
