Why does my harddrive sound like this?

I receive a BSOD claiming that there is an error writing to drive C: and that some data may be lost......then my drive starts making noises...sounds alot like a marble being dropped on a tile floor....repeatedly.....is that normal? it used to do that, and now i have bad sectors, it's only a 1.2gb, so i was thinking of upgrading....what is that noise?

May be a ball bearing loose in the drive. Back-up and replace the drive, it's going.

If it's a 1.2 gig, it's probably very old. My 1.2 gig is still going in my Compaq 133, however. Your drive, more than likely, has had its day and has given up.

You can get an 80 gig for under a hundred bucks now.

What brand 1.2 gig? Western Digital had some big problems with thier 1.2's. I know, I had 2 completely die on me. They had a recall on them.
