    Promedia DD-5.1?

Saw this on the Klipsch site looks kinda interesting..

    http://www.klipschonline.com/store/p...=3&pf%5Fid=034

Am I reading this right? I can go out and buy say $30-40 soundcard with digital hookup for this thing, hook this up to it and I have 5.1 sound now using a say 2 channel soundcard? If anyone knows any sites that might have more pics, reviews, info about it I'd really appretiate it, as klipsch doesn't have much info on it. Thanks

Why not just get a $60 soundcard that can do it already?

But why....even an old SBLive can be found for $30 or $20. People say software DD/DTS isnt much of a disadvantage (if at all) from a hardware decoder. I just dont see why you'd bother.

Unless you're looking to hook your speakers up to a game console, save your money. That's the only argument in favor of a decoder box today. The same argument applies to Hollywood DVD decoder cards, by the way - if you have a competent graphics card that outputs S-Video, save your money.

Put it towards a decent soundcard, the choice of which will vary depending on your uses (music, games, DVD , whatever).

You don't need a soundcard to get 5.1 with the ProMedia DD-5.1. It's designed more for straight up home theater and lining in your game consoles.

It simply provides a digital solution for the analog ProMedia 5.1's. But you get a remote control too, so ... it's worth it just for that.
