i thought that's why they've got that metal around the contact points of the motherboard, they're neutram letal not connected to anything so the screws can touch them. either way i've never used them in my systems

I was wondering why it didn't come with studs when I got it, so I ran out and bought some. Only to find that the mobo wouldn't even fit in the case with the studs.

The place where it mounts to just has little bumps, and it came with some screws to use. It works perfectly fine. It just uses bumps instead of studs to lift the mobo up a bit.

I was seriously afraid of grounding out my mobo with the case, but it ended up working perfectly fine.

don't you mean the copper standoffs? usually that is what you use, not rubber washers, and the standoffs are usually packaged with your case. If you cannot find any, I'm sure the small local computer store could sell you a few.

Usually, they are fiber (like cardboard) washers. They come with the case. I have never seen them come with a motherboard.

Some ppl say use them, some ppl say don't.

I believe where the screws hold the motherboard to the case are also ground points. Since the board contacts the standoffs (unless they are plastic), it really doesn't matter if you use them or not.

I think the washers are more to keep the screws wth teeth on them from eating the motherboard - especially if you are into swapping stuff often. And for tension, so the screws don't loosen over time.

If you don't have washers or screws with smooth surface where the screwhead contacts the board, you can cut small pieces of electrical tape - don't forget to poke holes in the tape so the screw can go through

i quit using washers a couple of years ago. mostly unecessary with any new motherboard. have never had a problem reported with any of the many computers i have built, besides, they are a royal pain to install. almost always when you go to mount the board, one of them will ALWAYS fall off.

They are those tiny little red discs that you put the screw through when attaching the MB to the case...

I hardly ever use mine, I have never ever had a problem. They get on my damn nerves =)

I saw them...tried to use them.,..didn't fit...so I just said screw it and threw them out...
