    Angry 8KHA+ Problems

I just finsihed my water cooling setup and everything was working fine for a few days, up until the point that I started overclocking. I had the CPU running at about 1.65Ghz for a few months now, but I reset the BIOS once, just to have efault settings to work with, and since then things have gone downhill.

The few startups right after the reset the BIOS went through the self test, but refused to boot with a different error message every time. Most of which, when looked up were covered under "reserved".

Since then, when I hit the power switch the power comes on and everything spins up, but nothing else happens. In very rare cases, sometimes I get the video card BIOS to display the card name, but usually the screen is blank.

On the LCD on the mobo it reads "FF". I have tried several things, like reseating the RAM, and all PCI cards and the video card. The processor has been removed for visual inspecion and reinstalled, and the BIOS has been removed for visual inspetcion, all with no results.

If your up to a challenge please reply!

No, it does not even display any BIOS information. In vary rare cases the video card BIOS displays the card name though.

it's your power supply, i almost guarantee it....i had the exact same problem with my 8kha+ my ti500 and my antec pp412x....with that particular psu, the board would fire up and go through all the codes til it they finished (meaning it displayed FF), but i wouldn't get anything on the screen at all...if you've got a different psu try it

No, the board does not go through any codes except "FF". That leads me to belive that it is a BIOS problem.

The PSU is brand new, and only has about 100 hours on it, but I will report back after trying my old one.

ok, that's a bit different then if it doesn't go through the codes and just goes straight to FF...hmm try the power supply thing anyway, the psu i tried had NO previous usage, and worked fine in the other systems i tested it in...i'm sure you've heard how that board is with psu's, so i suppose it won't hurt to try it

Hrmmm...Okay, I tried switching the PSU. Something happened, either for better or worse, I can't tell yet. I turned it on, outside the case, but the thing went on for half a second and then turned off again. I repeated several times with the same results. Then I put it in the case with the original PSU just to se if it would still start and stay on. It did...

It was on for a second, but then somethin caught my eye. A white hole erupted in a chip on the board, a small chip, probably eight pin. It is the closest chip to the connector for the northbridge fan.

I bought the board in late december. Do you think I should try to return it, or just buy a ned board. It was relatively inexpensive when I bought it, and I am in the mood for a new model.
