Problem formatting hard drive??? Help please.
I removed a hard drive from my current system and put it back into my old system. It's an IBM 20 gig hard drive.
I went to install Win2K server, but after it seems to finish formatting druing the setup I get the following message:
"Setup was unable to format the partition. The disk may be damaged."
Now this drive was originally in the system I have it in now (a 600 Mhz Gateway), so it shouldn't have any conflicts. I've been using the drive in my new system for about 3 months with no problem.
It is NTFS (I even tried FAT32) formatting using the Win2K CD.
Any suggestions?? I hope the drive isn't bad ... aghhh!
Thanks.

Delete the old partitions first. Then make new partitions and format.

I would first run scandisk on the whole drive, then if all the problems are fixed from that you should have no problem.
Another thing you can do is to just reformat the drive, and the go and install from there.
