The New Doom Iii Engine Is Still Being Built
In response to the closed thread. What you saw with the release of the geforce III was NOT the DooM III engine! It was simply a demonstration that ID put together using what they had at the time. Just as the Unreal engine goes through iterations so does ID's engine. Unoptimised and all that. Some of the content of that video was preliminary work on DooM III. But the engine itself is still being built. Actually.. it might be around 1/2 finished by now... as they were full steam ahead on it around January This year.

Stormtrooper Mod
Got any links to this Doom 3 info? And that preliminary demo still looked pretty darn nice!
Proofread carefully to see if you any words out.

I dont got a exact source but I can confirm this from other sites that have posted this info in the past. Every word IRON-PAWW has said is true. There is a site with John Carmack and a few other id software members .plan but I can't remember the exact web address.

Yeah, most of this comes from just being at a site at the right time. Could have been bluesnews that I read a small interview with John Carmack, which I think was primarily about ID's work with ATI's R8500 and the extended set of capabilities that ID intends to make use of in DooMIII. A very interesting read. As I remember, Carmack was saying that the ATI techology was going to work a lot better with DooMIII than Nvidia's current geforce3(at the time). But he also said that NV's next product... geforce5 lets say, will be a different story. But that was just a link embedded in a huge amount of news. I don't know how long bluesnews keeps their news on the site for. Anyhow, he just said that the Geforce 3 demo was nothing like what he intended for DooMIII. DooMIII of course would be much better....
