    3D Prophet 4800???

I might be a bit out of the loop at the moment but has anyone else noticed this?

    Check this out here

Looks to be not a bad card... finally updating some of the things the 4500 series failed to deliver... 4x AGP, Hardware T&L, Direcxt 8 Support and a higher clock speed.

With these added features delivered from the Kyro II SE chip integrated with the tile based rendering and internal 32 bit rendering form the previous Kyro II...perhaps this card could throw a slight spanner in the nVidia -vs- ATi competition...Although we all know about the Hercules tie with ATi...So that might suggest a slower performing card than it promises to be, to keep their ATi partners happy?

Sweet. One more graphics card to confuse all those choosing between the ATi R8500, GF3 Ti200, GF4 Ti4200, and now the 3D Prophet 4800.

It is not hardware t&l for one... but the new driver set is supposed to be very good at emulating hardware t&l functions and boasts a 20% speed increase, with the cheap prices of 8500's and ti200's i wouldnt even spend the $

Sorry, My bad... i just assumed "enhanced Transform And Lighting" meant they had made it hardware... pity, that would have made it a lot better performer i reckon.

No, if they added real T&L then they would have to rewrite the whole drivers and that is something that they don't want to do, they are making and marketing a prodcut with minimal changes in the hardware and software.

It is all done to keep the costs down.
