    problems with video card...i think

i was helping my friend build this comp yesterday:

athlon xp 1800, 512 pc2700 samsung ddr, asus a7v333, radeon 7000 (VE), windows xp pro, wd 30 gb hd, wd 120 gb hd

we installed windows on the 30 gig just fine, but after it installed it, it restarted and in the middle of the windows loading screen it seems like it is about to start up

the problem is the screen goes into these weird colors, kinda like the windows logon screen, but you really cant tell...it just seems to freeze at that image

we tried starting xp in safe mode and it works fine

we also tried installing the newest ati drivers from their site, but they said that the proper card for the drivers wasnt installed

i have no clue whats going on...any suggestions?

Try loading XP Safe Mode and changing the video card to standard VGA drivers. I know some ATI cards have problems with a few of the VGA drivers that XP loads automatically, and at that point, future ATI driver loads are a problem.
