That is a refurbished mac parts store.
I don't believe you can buy new Mac parts on the open market. The stuff in that store is refurbished and it says so right on their logo. Apple likes to keep the Mac stuff proprietary - which is why nobody likes them. It's sort of like buying a ready made PC from Compaq for which they have their own special brand of fairy dust sprinkled accessories. And fairy dust, as anybody will tell you, is very expensive.

The macs look nice though from the outside, but I would never buy one.

anything is possible, but WHY?
I dont think you could, it would be a pain and cost you as much or more than a regualar off the shelf mac

heres why. OS. they only sell upgrades. try finding a stand alone. if you rip an os out of a hard drive that was programmed for another computer, you might as well jump off a bridge in frustration. apple owouldnt let you get away with making ur own home grown righ that easily. theyre just like m$. money hungry. they have to r and d all their own ****, bios, all that stuff. it costs lotsa money. gets who foots the bill?

yuo're probably unlikely to be able to build a competitive Mac for Photoshop. You're best off looking for second hand ones. A G4 (or G4+) is the best Mac processor for Photoshop due to the SIMD optimisations. However, they're still relatively new and even a G4 500 will cost quite a bit: second hand Macs don't come cheap
You'r probably better off waiting until the end of the month for Mac related bargains: rumours suggest Apple are coming out with a PowerMac update ('bout time ), so a second hand dual G4 500 might become more reasonable then (evidence: someone tried to sell a prototype Power Macintosh motherboard on eBay, with DDR RAM slots. Taken down quickly "at request of copyright owner". It was a bright red colour (as it's a prototype and looked rockin'). More evidence: current G4 price cut.)

ya heh macs look nice but suck inside, omg they dont even minimize right, it's all weird.
why cant they make pc's look like macs?
why cant Bill gates buy out Mac.
heh if he did that then mac would grow.
i wonder what a PC computer would look like with a macs theme and a Linux OS.
Which reminds me, how come they don't put Linux boxes for sale at like some computer store; Instead they put Windows. this sucks.

Frankly because it wouldnt sell.
The closest i've seen to that; a while ago there was an article saying that you could buy pc's from wal-mart without an OS installed. but they're certainly not going to put linux on it. chances are, if you're BUYING a pre built computer you probably dont even know what the hell linux is, let alone how to use it.........

Ummm... You can buy 0S X (stand alone version) from:
Apple.com
Amazon.com
CompUSA.com
Outpost.com
Macmall.com
Mac-resource.com
Do you want me to go on?
You can't build a Mac like you can a PC 'cause Apple controls who makes their hardware. So even if you could buy all the individual parts you wouldn't save any money 'cause there is no competition in regards to mobob and proc (RAM, and HDDs use standard components, and you can choose between ATi and Nvidia cards, but there is still no where near the selection there is for PCs).
