Fastest CPU for 8KHA+?

OK, I did a search and couldn't find an answer to my question so...

What is the fastest CPU I can put in my 8KHA+?

266MHz FSB 2600+.

You can get a 2600+, but make sure it has a 266fsb not 333. Also make sure you have the newest BIOS for it.

Hmm, I wonder why you had to bring the P4 into this?

But you're not entirely correct there, you can get Socket 423 to Socket 478 adaptors (similar to the 'Slotket' for the Slot 1 based mobos) and you can fit a 400MHz FSB P4 into any old P4 mobo.

it should do both for ya

if you've got some really good cooling 2.3-2.4Ghz is possible with that chip. let us know how it goes.

I've got good cooling. My 1600+@150 runs 95deg F.

Is this for the custom case computer? If so, how's she holding up, and has your dividers worked well in the long run? I loved the idea way back when, and I saw the pics, but I was just curious how it all turned out this far down the road.

If you have some good ram you can get a nice overclock out of that board... heck I did 185Mhz FSB on that board when I had it.

It works like a dream. The only thing I changed was to remove all the exhaust fans. It runs alot cooler without them even though they put out more CFM than the intakes.

I've slacked about actually finishing it to a level to show. But I will do it very soon.

I'm running 512megs of Corsair XMS PC2700 if I remember correctly.

I seem to remember that The 8kha+ would only handle up to the Thoroughbred A core. Is this actually the case. I thought that the Thoroughbred A core stopped at 2200+. So what you guys are saying is that the 8kha+ will still support newer cpu's as long as they are the 266mhz FSB variants???

there should be no difference between T-bred B and T-bred A, with regards to compatibility. of course i may be wrong, and maybe someone knowledgeable like moridin might correct me. major differences were between tbird and palo, with arch differences, but i think T-bred was just a process shrink.

also make sure appropriate multipliers are available.
