    problems with barton, what's up?

i tested out a dead 2100+ (to make sure it was dead) for my friend, and now my cpu won't get to 2.4ghz anymore. it can boot and everything, but it reboots as soon as i try to run sandra or 3dmark. i've run the burn in wizard a bunch of times and everythings fine at 2.2 and 2.3ghz, so what's the problem? could it be that the thermal grease needs time to settle in again or that i didn't put enough on?

hmm...did putting the 2100+ in change any settings in the bios? also...if your temps are fine, i'd say the thermal grease is fine...that is a very strange situation, sorry i can't help any more...

    ok,
It could be that your thermal paste/grease has not yet settled in.
Also it could be you dont have enough. Further it could be the heatsink for the cpu is not seated correctly.
If all that checks out do a 30 minute bios clear - by putting the jumper on clear and takeing the battery out of the motherboard. Put it back together and see if that helps. if not then flash bois to newest, if not then, I am out of ideas.

ok, now it's worse. it won't even run applications now. it's rebooting at 48C. i think maybe i'll just let it go running at 2.2ghz for a few days and test it later. maybe it needs to settle into its socket again. who knows?

try leaving ur comp on at a stable speed for a day and try o/cing it the next day, i kind of have a similar problem where my fsb sometimes won't go past 150 when i turn on my comp, usually doesn't take a day, probably takes a few hours to get it settled
