I wouldn't say they are useless, but yeah it's GG if they do it against me. If you can take out their observer it's a great defensive unit.

Word of warning - Zealots get eaten alive by Roaches.
Yeah they do, but that's why you need sentries for guardian shield/force field. I am pretty weak on the match up, because they aren't many zerg players yet. Fortunately roaches can't hit air. Zerg players should use Nydus networks more IMHO. I got caught with those a few times in beta.
Yet Another Build Order Tester

Download zipped file, unzip to your starcraft 2 dir, drop the map file you want in sc2 map editor, hit test map button, and enjoy. Someone spent allot of time making this. You can choose your race, build order, or roll your own (free style). Also can choose the attacking race and unit composition. Measures your Actions Per Minute, and gives a score based on what you did. It's pretty much it's own game, but will help you more than any other video or utility you can use.
The protoss cannon is brutally effective if used properly. If I have a large choke to defend I use cannons to narrow the gap, if I decide to be going with a macro build I'll build up like 4-5 cannons at my main choke with a few zealots, generally the zealots will die but Cannons will hold them off.
Although I hate it when people build tons of them. And stalkers are great, I use them in conjuction with Zealots, 10 or so zealots w ill huge back the army as my stalkers pound on them.
I have early reaver rushes pretty much perfected, and I'm starting to get used to hotkeying all of my buildings so I can keep my economy going while I'm microing the attack. However it obviously only works on maps where the base is accessible from many angles. The great thing about Reapers is that Zerglings and Reavers have no chance against 2 well-microed Reapers that abuse a cliff. And I don't think I have to mention that it's an automatic win if you take out all of the other guy's workers.
One problem with the game right now is that most of the maps are pretty bad, and almost all of them favor Terran. Unit balance is very well-done considering how new the game is, but map balance is awful. Not a big deal though, after all hardly anybody played Blizzard maps in Brood War once the game got going.
Also I recently saw a Terran guy do a fun strategy: build 2 command centers with guns on them near the enemy's base, then just fly them in and let them destroy everything. Each of them fits 5 SCVs which is more than enough to repair the buildings while they're wrecking the base.
I haven't played many online RTS'es, but what I am quickly figuring out is that Starcraft 2 is won by who counters better. If you see your opponent building lots of ground units, then cannons work. If your opponent builds lots of cannons at a choke point, then air works. If they build air defenses to go with their choke point defense, then they are stretching their resources too thin on static defenses, and you can beat them by building out your economy more than them. If they overstretch their economy, you can beat them with cheap fast ground units.
The two most important lessons I have learned in the past 2 weeks is to scout early and often, and to learn the counters to whatever you see.
NUKES NUKES! You will rarely see nukes used in the high levels of the game, so this game is worth watching.
Game featuring the best player in Europe IMHO TheLittleOne with lots of nukes.

Huk (P) vs Silver (T)
Intense game that stays pretty close the whole time. Silver is an unknown player that has been beating some of the top pro's in the Intel Extreme Masters Tournament.
