Past nightmare, the act bosses are actually a lot easier than champion mobs. I killed Azmodan in hell pretty much by myself in about 10-15 seconds... in a 3 player game.

It's better than the merchants for sure. I haven't really been checking comparable equipment prices when I make my sales so I'm probably greatly undercutting everyone, but I've been selling equipment for 3k gold.
I'm level 48 right now, so sure!
I haven't touched the auction house and I'm playing totally solo (barbarian) and I've died a fair number of times just in normal. Belial in particular killed me 5 or 6 times, seemed to be basically one shotting me with his AOE attack.
Ouch, I'm playing a barb too and didn't die on Belial although he was a lot harder than any other previous boss. I'm used to wow tactics though and the Belial fight was a cookie cutter WoW boss fight. Hit him 2-3 times, dodge the colored prompts, hit him a few more times, etc. With the barb I use Leap a lot and it helped a ton when dodging his attacks. Also using Earthquake on Belial was god-like. Drop the quake right next to him and then dodge attacks. That alone took him down 1/4 or so life each use. You can do it every 120s, so I think I got at least two in on him during the fight.
I use Leap and Ground Slam (or whatever it is called) when engaging large groups. Then I swing away with cleave. Cleave with the explosive AOE upon death rune is OP IMO.
Yeah, Belial killed me once the first time I was fighting him, and then I realized I needed to dodge the little circles and I was okay after that.
I think his is the most interesting boss fight in the game, too.
The bosses in the entire Diablo series are really just big strong named mobs and little more. D3 does try to add in some interesting mechanics with some of them, but the game is still Diablo.
Do keep in mind that even though the behavior of this one boss is similar to a raid boss, Diablo is not WoW nor does the game feel like raiding. The bosses in the game aren't the focus of play and elite/champion mobs you run into throughout the game are usually far more challenging, rewarding and interesting.
I forget the exact strategy I switched to to beat Belial but I think I switched in Earthquake, Frenzy, and whatever the skill is with the shields swirling around you, using all of them for basically the first time. I had been having so much success with leap->stomp->explosive cleave on most mobs and bash+stun on tough individuals that I had been pretty unimaginative previously with my skill loadouts.
So...verdict..do you see yourself playing this game for the next ten years? Or do you think there will be an 'LOD' expansion that takes it to the next level? If there is, that's when I'll probably start playing.
To be honest...I regret buying the game. The game is addicting, but as RPS put it:
That's the boat I'm in. I continue to play it but I much rather play something with more substance.Quote:
it’s like eating sweets versus amazing steak, or something. I’m happy with it, but there’s little substance. I wouldn’t say I love it. I am having a great time playing it, but I don’t think it really does anything interesting, which is a major issue.
I don't know any game that I would play for 10 years. I'm most likely going to get my Monk to max level, see how far I can go with a Hardcore character then put the game down until the inevitable expansion.
If you're the type that loves grinding over and over to get the best loot, then you will absolutely find a lot to love about this game.
I'm in Act IV in Normal and having some hard time with Diablo himself... will have to try different gears
Really? I found Diablo himself not that hard. Getting there was a different story.
Currently playing on American Servers as a wizard, holy **** are they OP. And AH allows for you to get some decent game, although I picked up a nice *** wand.
Wizards totally melt face, especially if you give yourself a chance to survive tougher mobs with some defensive abilities.
That said, I still think demon hunters are far and away the most powerful class. Level 60 just widens that gap with the amazing 2h bows that are available to them (though wizards can also use these effectively for pure damage purposes :p ).
As a 51 DH with some AH gear, I blew through Nightmare pretty easily except for Diablo himself. I only fought him once last night when I got there but died in Phase 2. I need to tweak my methods a bit I think.
I switch it up constantly based on the enemies. I really don't see how people can play this game with a specific build. Maybe other classes are different, but with DH it totally depends on the number of enemies, if i can train them into a single line, and if I'm in a group.
