got the two pack as well, played some cthulhu last night, i'm loving it so far, think 16-bit era final fantasy, lots of humor and references

The trailer for Dungeons of Dredmor looked god awful IMO. Terribly clunky looking.
Better trailer?

Ended up buying Dungeons of Dredmor thanks to this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyTfUnnxZV4
Game is pretty cool but seems a bit too easy atm. I've spent over an hour in the game, I'm still on the first floor (this floor is huge!) and I haven't even come close to dying.
ADVICE: Disable smoothing from the launcher. It's on by default and really makes the game look ugly.
On my lvl 1 I had to go down to lvl 2 then over to some stairs to go back up to 1 in an enclosed room. Lvl 2 is harder with more big creatures like grim reapers, zombies, etc
check this out Kama:

link to the profile? I about threw my keyboard across my room and beat the crap out of it because of frustration from dieing so much...and then having to go back to a checkpoint and do it all over again. I figured out how to give me some more armor with d+e and that has helped tremendously, as well as some nice freeze bombs to slow the waves down, but then i get all jammed up and accidentally blast myself.
Playing a melee brute.
Vampirism + Beserker is fun. So far, no matter what it throws at me, I can go through 1 monster after another without fear.
I'm digging dredmor so far. Tried out a number of builds, but now I have a duel wielding rogue build with some fire magic. Ran into Death on the 1st level and had to run away since I figure he's a tough mob to kill.
I am on lvl 4 with a lvl 10 rogue/warrior type. Has anyone else unleashed the monster zoo? Muwuauwhahhaa
HUGE update for Dredmor just downloaded...of note is this:
Fixed: backwards conditional logic on ranged monster attacks means that monsters were not consistently casting spells; fixing this makes the Dungeon 95.2% nastier.
I haven't had many enemies cast at me..now it's about to get a little tougher.
a couple other notables:
Ammo recovery rates for thrown weaponry and crossbow bolts now much higher.
Permadeath now deletes your save game files on your death, as opposed to when you load the game.(wicked!)
Added steak grilling. (lol)
Smooth scaling is now saved between playthroughs.(for you Kama)
Added toggle that reverses behaviour of CLICK and SHIFT-CLICK on items.(nice)
Added the Auto-Looter 9000, by BraxCo.(hopefully easier to sell loot)
good stuff
Finally made it to the second dungeon. its so easy to die by being careless.
Post your current fav build. I'm using:
Swords
Duel Wielding
Perception
Assassination
Artful Dodger
Burglary
Promethean Magic
Pretty solid build for me. The build does insane damage on each hit and bulgary and artful dodge provide skills for getting away if things get hairy. Promethean Magic is used for area attacks and to wipe out weaker mobs. You can also fire it off through a closed door...MUHAHAHAHAHAH.
- WASD can now open doors and attack monsters. This is a toggleable behaviour.
Excellent update!
Civ 5 for $17, worth it?
Have you played the other Civs?
Civ 5 is still largely considered a joke compared to the rest of the series. I played it for a few hours and was disgusted at how painfully simple it was, with the facade of depth, and some absolutely bone-headed AI.
Hopefully some of the patches have helped with the AI, but Civ IV is still a vastly better, deeper, more strategic game.
