Diablo rip offs
Since it's taking Blizzard way too long to release Diablo 3, surely a good marketing strategy would be to release a quality Diablo rip-off (in fairness that's probably a little harsh) RIGHT NOW, ahead of them.
Thus stealing some of Blizzard's fire, and beating them to the starting line.

Doesn't matter who releases what. People will stop playing it and buy D3 as soon as it is released.

Yeah i agree, however that doesn't mean the game couldn't have already benefited from a good 2 years of sales.
Is there life after that?
Could have built up a mean online battlenet as well.
Plus it could raise the bar on Blizzard and put them back to the drawing board, thus delaying D3 by an additional year or 2

Awesome.
Don't write off Torchlight until you've at least played the demo.
Titan Quest is a popular choice, most recently I've been playing Sacred 2 which is pretty fun.

LOLWUT
Meh. All Blizzard has to do is finally release their 1.13 patch for Diablo II and that will hold over the rabid fans until Diablo III.

Yeah this. I probably wasn't going to buy it, but I bought it right after I played the demo. A really excellent game and it's pretty cheap.

I dunno. I only enjoyed Diablo II because of the trading/item hoarding in multiplayer. Single Player did not hold my interest, so these Diablo clones really cant hold my attention for long since there's no "Battle.net" for them.
Titan Quest was unique enough and I got it for $20 but still have not finished it because its just hard to hold my interest unless Im looking for rare items in these types of games...

I've never really played Diablo type games before but I tried Torchlight and really liked it.
Its a really good game despite the WoW style graphics. don't trash it until you tried it.

No, seriously, look into Torchlight. Here is why:
Torchlight is a game made by Runic Games. Runic Games was founded by Travis Baldree, Max Schaefer, Eric Schaefer, Bill Roper, and David Brevik. Max and Eric Shaefer, Roper, and Brevik were all from Blizzard North, the division of Blizzard that creates the Diablo franchise. Torchlight is as close to a “Diablo clone” as you can get.
And BTW – Diablo 3 will have a “Nintendo” look, or “World of Warcraft” art style.

another vote in support of Torchlight. Excellent value for the price.

Those graphics look really dated - they would be fine for 2001/02, but in 2010 they are really lacking, especially compared to the modern games such as Crysis.
