Mass Effect first play through

Just beat it again and went from 45 to 56! Gonna have to play a bit more I suppose... straight tearin' **** up with my gear and stats. I don't even try to take cover anymore. Just run around guns blazing. Think I'm on hardcore mode too. The only guy that gave me some trouble was

I maxed out both choices but in a recent conversation both were grayed out. I thought that was strange.

The Blue and Red sentence have a minimum level of Paragon/Charm, Renegade/Intimidate level attached to them. Since you generally specialize one is almost always available. Sometimes, they have a low level requirement and they're both available. On the other hand if both require a higher level than you have then they both end up grayed out.

It happened to me with the Admiral who's unhappy with the Normandy. The last few choices requires a high level that you rarely have when you meet him (unless you are going through the game a second time with the same character).

I should have played through ME1 again before starting ME2. I see people in ME2 and they go "HEY! Shepard! Remember me!" Ugh... no... its been two years since I played the first one.

I found I had trouble with him until I simply went back to using a pistol with Tungsten VII rounds in it. 2 loads of the "Marksman" perk and he was down for the count. Didn't even have to use medigel.

Finished my Soldier 1st playthrough and got to 56 on one playthrough (hardcore mode)! Gonna play a 2nd time through, get her to 60 while on Insanity, and unlock those two achievements. Then the only thing I'll have left is the achievements for the partners. I've got two of them, but I really don't want to do "complete" playthroughs twice more to get the other 4.

So far I seriously dislike all the weapons I've used. I hope they get better as you go along and get more powerful.

Just finished the walk-through mission as a soldier, going to have to do it again because I still haven't figured everything out.

And what level should I be when we arrive planetside? I still haven't figured out how to tell if I dinged or not.

If its like ME1, ten you have to go to the character screen and spend skill points. I'm not sure if you know that.

Whoops...thought you said ME2...then yeah you go to the menu and select squad. you should see points you can spend on up-ing skills..

You can put it on auto level and the game will select the upgrades for you. I prefer to handle it myself and cater my group to my play style.


If you see that you have a large number of points to spend, then that'll explain why your weapons suck. You spend points to improve your damage and accuracy. The more you have vested in a trained weapon, the tighter your aiming receptacle will be, the more damage you do, less cool down, and etc. You also use these points to unlock new abilities.

I purchased Mass Effect on Steam about a week ago and I love it! I thought Fallout III was great, but ME suits me better: it feels more like an action game than a pure RPG-game, and you actually get to have a squad with you and not just a dog.

I wish the Steam version would tie into Windows Live. I hate to say it, but I want those achievements to show up on my gamertag.
