I don't think the Q6600 is the problem, it has to be something else. I have a HTPC with a Q6600 @2.7ghz + 4GB RAM + HD3870 X2 Cat10.2 + 64bit Win7 HP and I can max out all setting, 2xAA + HBAO enabled @1360x768, runs between 45fps to >60fps (in SP mode). What vid card do you have? Is your Q6600 at default speed?

Edit - Whether you have the Steam version, or the retail box version like me, be careful of the latest update. I'd just updated mine and it freezes on load, then I get thrown to desktop....flawless for some, flawed for other I guess.

Well see, my problem is I'm trying to run it at 1920x1080. I tried raising some of the settings after dropping the rez to 1280x720 and I still get pretty good FPS. It is also worth noting that single player runs better than mp for me.

Considering that almost every NIC produced at the consumer level is CPU/driver based with zero offloading, that makes complete sense.

Slap on a GTX285 or HD5850 (at least) and I think you should be able to do 1080P/1200P. It's not the CPU that's holding you back, it's the GPU I suspect....what GPU do you have anyway?

At the BC2 forum over at Steam, I see some complaining that their good rigs - dualies with GTX275/HD4870/HD4890 rigs have problems running at high detail. This is even though their vid cards seem more than capable enough, turns out their CPUs is holding them back, not the GPU. BC2 runs better on quads than dualies (unless you OC the heck outta the dualie) since some work, including sound from what I've gathered, is offloaded to the CPU. In your case, your CPU should be able to handle these additional work easily, so I believe the GPU may be the limiting factor.

With my HTPC, my Q6600 handles it easily enough, if I were to stick a 5870 in it, I'm pretty sure I can do BC2 @1080P full bore.....well, perhaps at 2xMSAA, 4xMSAA tops.

    I have a Q6600/GTX 275 and don't have any problems at 1920x1200 with 2xAA/4xAF.

I think you should ditch the audigy, go on board sound, put your 2gb of memory back in and oc that processor.

Game runs awesome with everything on high, 1x AA, 8x AF with HBAO turned off @ 1680x1050. I'm running in DX9 mode due to a glitch where ATi cards have extremely long loading times.

I am using onboard sound, thought I give it a try. I believe that in BC all the sound is generate by the CPU.

I am curious if there would be a difference with using a dedicated soundcard.

I play off headphones so no reason to use anything but on board sound for me.
