I don't roll on Shabbos!
Original starcraft had 30 missions, 10 protoss, 10 zerg, 10 terran. This one has 29 missions all Terran (well not exactly true, but no spoilers!!!) and will have expansions for the other races. I don't see anything wrong with this. For fans of the game this is great because that means more content.
30 missions is 30 missions which is a campaign. This campaign is 10x the campaign of the original. There is a ton here and it is extremely entertaining.
1/3 of a game is ridiculous. This game offers more for your dollar than practically any game that I can remember.

I bought the game today, I never worry about getting my money's worth with Blizzard. Their history of support is insane--who else puts out patches 10 years after a game comes out? In the past 10-15 years the standard they have created is just ridiculous. Their games have defined genres--some games have came close but I still haven't found anything better than Warcraft 3 or Diablo 2.

IMO DoW had it perfect, but DoW2 felt more like a dungeon crawler with cover mechanics than a RTS (which I don't think it is.)
Single player was like you describe, but multiplayer absolutely has an economics portion. And you even get to build things. MP is what makes that game awesome.
I think you hit the nail on the head. DoW had the best balance IMHO. Some great base building with lots of neat tactical mechanics to keep the game dynamic and engrossing
I felt DoW2 was too DotA IMHO. I wanted a little more base building and fewer epic hero units.
But DoW 2 only lets you have one hero unit... and it's nothing like DotA. I think you're forgetting that DoW 1 actually let you have multiple heroes unless you were playing Necron who only needed the one.

In the Dow2 single campaign, all you had were specialty units. The one sniper unit, the one heavy unit, the one jetpack unit, and so on. That's pretty much DoTA. EAch "unit" is unique and serves a role. Furthermore, you can level them up and add gear to customize them. It felt less like an RTS and more like a Real Time Dungeon Crawl.
In DoW1 I could spawn multiple units which had no leader but that allowed from some customization. I had leaders but they weren't the main focus. I could build my base up and establish an operation center.
As I've stated before, I don't play much RTS MP so I'm speaking from a single player aspect.
Personally, I prefer Dow1 to Dow2. But Thats just me.

From a single player standpoint I can see where you have a problem, but multiplayer isn't like that and that's really where the meat of the game lies.

So how is the campaign coming along for everyone? I think I am 19 missions in or so and love it so far. I'm trying to not play because I don't want to blow through it lol. Also, I was at barnes and noble today and picked up a starcraft book. I'll let you guys know if it is any good.

Still only on the 4th mission. I keep having friends hop on right when I FINALLY get a chance to play a game since work has been so flippin busy, but even still I end up falling asleep after only an hour or so while playing since I'm so worn out. Ugh. Why did the busy times have to come right now /end rant.

Haha, noobs are overheating their GPUs. Blizz said the problem is they did not limit the framerate on the title screen and the GPU goes crazy trying to render it at 1000's of fps. So people without adequate cooling are overheating their GPUs.

LMAO should be an easy patch though.
I noticed that Blizz automatically set all my settings to Ultra SC2 can't be that hard to run.

It read your system and noticed you can handle ultra. Plus like you said it certainly isn't a strenuous game on you computer anyways.

I have a strat for protoss it's called stalkers
I quickly build two gateways and get a few zealots on the field I quickly behind that cybernetic core and then 1 additional gateaway I then eventually build myself up to stalkers I will have 3-4 stalkers per zealot ratio.
I was in a 3 v 3 hard PC game, my full army of zealots and stlakers with a bit of back up from a few siege tanks cleaned out the enemy in one swoop and it was cool
Zealots keep units away form my stalkers, the stalkers hit both air and ground units
You can upgrade your stalkers too and they become powerful and with blink you can easily pull them on the high ground, example I had a swarm of zergs surrond me I blinked to a cliff and they conitued the fight from there.
Stalkers rock!!!

Been playing Protoss since beta. Zealots are the meat shield for your ranged units and become useful against Terran players once you get the speed upgrade. I usually have a pretty mixed army of zealots, sentries, and stalkers. Sentries are awesome too. The shield and forcefield ability can turn a battle to your favor. For a blink army add a scout (robo bay unit) to blink on higher ground. I usually open up with 4 gates, rush warp tech, and push with a probe to build pylons near the opponent's base. Against zerg I just zealot rush them then tech to mostly sentries. Been practicing AI on Kulas Ravine. Terran players rape me on that map, because of the lack of high ground.

i have a confession. I've never played star craft 1. Not a single minute.
However, this game does look like fun, and having recently played through red alert 1 (which is still awesome btw) I might be picking this game up. On the note, whats the best way to get in contact with you guys so you may properly rape me online?

There is a thread of Battlenet names to add peeps. Most of the peeps here are pretty new to the game, so you won't get raped too hard. Unless of course you play me, then yes rape will happen, but it will be over fast.
