I've thought about getting back into it one of these days. It wasn't anything amazing IMO, but over the months I had just got past the 20 hour mark where the game apparently really opens up and then never came back to it.

I would suggest checking out the demo for FFXII-2

I'll do that. I've read the combat is the same, but the game as a whole is easier, which is what turns me off. I don't want my hand held the whole game.

Honestly, I had no idea what was going on. I'm not use to the the combat system which seems like you are not really playing a game, but more like generally telling the computer what they should maybe be doing.

Just finished the new Twisted Metal. It's an awesome game that does the original justice, but I was disappointed at the length of the game in story mode. You have to worry at the writer(s) for this game as well. Omg, the story is straight up psychotic!

I'm guessing most people (like my friends and I) will be getting this game for the ridiculous multiplayer. 4 of us split-screened it at my place the other night, and much drinking and smack-talking fun was had by all.

Overall, I think it needs more maps and more... variety. After only an hour of playing this multi, we were ready to move on to NHL '12, on which we've logged entire nights before. Twisted Metal is a blast, and it will get play time every week - but not nearly as much as other games.

Last thought: screw the Juggernaut. My best friend was getting his *** kicked in both the smaller and mid-sized cars, so mid-match he switched every time. 1v1 isn't bad, but when you're fighting someone else and the Juggernaut freezes & rams you at full speed, you're done. By the end of that hour we were all threatening to take his controller and shove it up his ..........

It's my guess the map choices were intentionally limited because of future DLC. Its one of the reasons why I'm waiting for the GOTY edition.

Twisted Metal is awesome! I've been ignoring it since SSX came out, but I was having a lot of fun with the game before that. What's your PSN name?

I tried the demo and thought the same thing. I didn't know what the heck was going on. I couldn't tell if anything I hit on the controller even made a difference or not.

I'd have to agree with both of you. It irritates me to no end that, if I switch to a paradigm with COM/COM/COM, and there's multiple targets on the field, they all attack different targets. If I switch to COM/COM/COM, then it's almost 100% positive an enemy is staggered and I want to decimate it as soon as possible to switch to the next enemy. That's one thing I definitely don't like about the game, is that I have literally no control over precise actions for the other party members.

The game literally feels like its trying to be a movie first with some light gameplaying. I'd call it an interactive movie before I called it a game.

Started up Rage recently and got an hour or two in, and I'm still in the middle of Enslaved and Sengoku Basara 3, but for the most part all I've been playing is the original Wild ARMS. Game holds up VERY well imo in every way except in-battle graphics. The two big things that usually keep me from playing/replaying JRPGs from this era are slow *** battle systems and random encounters; in this case, while the battle system is a bit slow, for some reason this one is highly conducive to frame skip using an emulator (not being ATB helps with that, I played FF9 recently and frame skip didn't help in battle much at all), and the random encounter rate is low enough to not be too annoying.

May actually see this one through all the way to the end.

I liked that about the battle system. Kept me a lot more involved for most encounters than the traditional "just mash X" system for 99% of random battles in previous FFs.

i'm playing resonance of Fate and I'm enjoying the active battle system. Character placement of field strategy play a massive part of combat and if you try to just rush through things you'll most likely see a game over screen soon. Its probably the most interactive combat system I've seen with the player actually being able to alter actions while executing attack commands.

That said, it can be very frustrating with how unforgiving the game can be when you make a mistake, and the action does get difficult to control at times. I can see why lots of people find it to be a grind fest because they have a hard time placing and controlling their characters effectively.

Unfortunately I don't have the game, I just played thru the campaign with a friend that brought it over. It was incredible fun. In multiplayer death match I'm getting pretty good with Crimson Fury - at first I thought he was impossible to control (so effing fast), but I stuck with CF, and now that I'm used to that car NO ONE can catch me! My friends get pretty annoyed with me racing into the action, unloading specials, then jetting back out to go find powerups.

Oh, but if you still play Dark Souls and ever see a summon sign for Impulsive_1, that's me. Right now I'm alternating between my mega-tank with tons of strength & +15 demon great axe and my glass-cannon sorceror with 50 intelligence and pretty much no other stats. I always have either a summon sign or invasion sign down.

Done with Mass Effect 3. Like I have said in that thread it was great and I expected nothing less or more. And yet again I have to stress if you weren't or have never been a fan of the series don't even waste your time. BUT if you were, awesome game. The ending was a little....
    Spoiler
but it was still very good.
