    - Not scary. The game has a few tense moments around the 2 hour to 2 hours, 30 minutes mark, but for the most part the game is...

    - Boring. It's boring. You encounter threats for maybe 30 minutes of the entire game; the rest is walking through corridors, solving simple puzzles with awkward controls and 90% of the game is reading notes that fill in the story. Unfortunately...

    - The story is predictable from the very start. Oh no, you have amnesia and you are being led by someone that sounds just like you and you are chasing after your children who are clearly not really there? I really wonder what's going on... It doesn't help that the notes you find early on clearly paint your character as a bad person. In the original Amnesia you at least spent more than half the game slowly learning that your character has done terrible things and maybe doesn't deserve to live anymore. In the original game there was also this constant threat both of the creatures that roamed the halls and this mysterious force whose presence is the whole reason you're in that mansion in the first place.
That said, it isn't really a bad horror story, it just isn't all that interesting. I think people who hadn't played the original game might have gotten more out of this one since they wouldn't be expecting the same sort of thing that we were presented with, but at the same time, the game is directly connected to the first one and unless you played that one, there is no way you're going to understand what's really going on.
I should also add that while your character's story is indeed very familiar, the story of the titular machine is definitely not. Again, not a bad horror story, I just didn't think it was all that interesting.

    - This was created by a different designer/developer, and it shows. The game feels nothing like Amnesia or the Penumbra games that came before it. You no longer feel as though you are moving through a real place, but instead it feels like you are disjointedly moving from setpiece to setpiece just so you can read a story along the way. It feels incredibly lazy.

    - EDIT: Forgot to add that there is no longer an inventory and no longer a sanity system. You never need to worry about being in the light to stay sane and you never need to worry about getting oil to fuel your lamp because your lamp never dies.

I feel that this would have been better as a book rather than a game.

EDIT: I did film myself playing the entire way through, so if you're interested in seeing the game as I saw it, you can find them on my YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/Kamakazie27.
How disappointing! I was gearing up to play the original Amnesia in preparation for aMfP. But that's just been pushed further into the backlog.

I'm still working on Max Payne 3... not a bad game, just not what I was hoping for. Not a fan of the shooting mechanics, and the story is uninteresting at best, at least thus far. Max Payne working in Brazil as a merc, with no ties to his former life? As a fan of the series, it's hard for me to get into this one. I'm playing maybe once every 2 weeks. That said, I'm aware the game has received great reviews - I just don't get it.

The original is great; don't let the disappointing sequel stop you from experiencing the first game.

I thought it was an "OK" game. But not a "Max Payne" game.

And the full body armor bullet sponges at the end drove me nuts. Glad I finished it, don't plan on playing it again.

I downloaded, started up, and finished "Ben There, Dan That" tonight.

Probably the first game I've "beaten" in years.

    Started playing Terraria again.

By a stroke of luck, I actually found a backup of my old game. (I really hadn't played in a long time).

So now I'm wandering around in new worlds, trying to spawn all the new NPCs and ore for all the new bits.

I'm doing the same expect I'm using my old game to craft some new items and higher tier weapons. Need to make my hallowed set of Armour and items still. There are a BUNCH of upgrades to the accessory slots.

Yeah, the combination items are what I'm really looking for (aside from the hallowed stuff), as well as some of the new "Specter" gear, and a few other things. None of the wikis really have a good "this version of the wings gets you a bit higher than this version" chart, they just have allusions in the individual descriptions.

Maybe I'm not seeing it, but it seems that the server is Windows only. I only have a linux box publicly available.

I also have the sequel from the 2-years-ago steam summer sale.

    This article explains it all:
    http://venturebeat.com/2013/10/17/no...n-adult-gamer/

...except that they leave out that besides having far too many games to play (and "real life" demands), we also have our unlimited subscriptions to netflix, amazon prime movies, spotify, hulu, etc and other hobbies eating away our time.

Wow! No one has finished a game since October?
Finally finished Skyrim. Started in Sept. Added on Dawnguard and Hearthfire. Total time was about 213 hours. Amazing game. I did pretty much everything I could find to do. Even got into crafting and enchanting my own armors/weapons. I'm still amazed at how short the actual main questline of these Bethesda games are (Elder Scrolls/Fallout/etc). I mean literally you could probably knock those games out in 6 hours or less. Nevertheless, the extra content and other side quests are pretty awesome. Can't wait until the next one.

    Starting Bioshock Infinite now.
