I'm thinking of replaying ME1 all the way through again just to 1) keep up on the story and 2) have a better build ready for ME2. I had started playing last night as a Biotic (I don't think thats what it was called) but I quickly lost interest going through the first planets dialogue. Kinda got boring lol. Might try again. Lee_T you have some given me some interest in trying those other layouts...

Can you replay through ME1 w/ a character u already used to defeat the game (ie my level 45 soldier I haven't touched in like 2 years?)

Yes, and that's the only way to get a character to level 60.

Also, when you replay with the same character, each person you meet and put in your squad has all of the points for that level (say lv. 45), but they are unallocated, meaning you aren't stuck with your decisions from the last playthrough on your ally builds.

Your character's points remain assigned, but all of your ally's can be respec'd each playthough. (Say for example your toon now has maxed first aid, no reason to pump points into that on an ally.)

Is it worth putting points into charm or intimidate? Will you eventually get enough points to cover most of the skills or do you have to be really careful how you spend them?

Charm and intimidate can get you out of a ton of battles and open lines of dialog that you would miss other wise.

Absolutely. This is one of the most important things to put points in IMO. I focused on charm for my first playthrough and intimidate for the second.

it gives more freedom in the game. if you have one maxed and the other not, that other paragon/renegade option will be grayed out. i like the idea of making any choice at my whim. usually those options will enable you to avoid or engage in fights and help bargain prices, or get people to give you items. the regular options usually don't get you squat except a lowered amount of paragon or renegade points. also, for maximum effect, you should always take a top or bottom choice. 9 out of 10 times, the middle one will net you no gain in anything.

I maxed out both choices but in a recent conversation both were grayed out. I thought that was strange.

I think I will re start my game. Go renegade solider and just focus on intimidation.

That is really strange. Maybe it had to do with a choice you made earlier or something. Who knows

When you say maxed out both choices, do you mean maxed out to the point they were available, or all 12-14 points or whatever?

The reason I ask is that you will come across situations that require like Charm:8, even if you have your charm "maxed" at the 6 points you can put into it, you still won't be able to chose the charm option in the dialog, because you don't meet the requirements. Does that make any sense?

Paragon:Charm and Renegade:Intimidate go hand in hand. You can't up your Charm past a certain point until you earn more paragon points. Same for Intimidate and Renegade.

Yeah mine was 3..taht makes so much sense. I think I will restart and do an aggressive soldier.

If I go renegade, can I still bed someone?

Yes, just remember to tell them what they want to hear.

*Edit: I just hit the point where both of the love interests ask me "I thought you might like x" (x being the other person.)

To which I reply "Of course not, you are the only one for me."

    To both of them.
